The Caldaris are known to be a proud people steeped in the warrior tradition. Originally a part of the Gallente Federation, their difference of opinions and basic values with the Gallenteans resulted in a bloody war between the two races.
After forming a separate Empire of their own, the Caldaris have lived a peaceful and prosperous life. Their Corporate lifestyle results in stiff competition between the corporations running the Empire. Which in turn aids a consumer based society.
The Caldari Empire is run by a few large corporations and some smaller corporations. Though this helps the people in finding the best possible options at competitive rates, the other Empires in Eve are quite fed up with the system to say the least. Even if the Caldari corporations are involved in shady businesses there is no one in particular that can help stop them. The unlawful corporations disappear for some time and reappear under a new name after some time. To add to that, the Caldari state backs the corporations to the hilt in facing foreign oppositions.

They find outlets for their aggressive attitude through participation in gladiator like tournaments held quite regularly in Eve. Something that comes with this sort of dare devil attitude is gambling. The gambling industry of Caldari is unique to their Empire. No other race matches their prowess at taking such risks.
The major opposition the Caldaris have faced has been from their one time allies, the Gallente. After they rebelled against the Gallente Federation, peace between the two races was only brought about when the Amarr threat loomed large on the horizon.
As for the other races, the Caldaris really don't pay much attention to diplomatic norms. Their Government's disregard for the other nations is evident form the fact that there have been quite a few incidents of Caldari ships infiltrating into the Gallente and Minmatar territories but no official apologies were ever offered by the Caldari foreign office. Due to similar negligence in the past, and the fact that the Caldaris provide the technology of continued Minmater slavery in Amarr,the relations between the Minmatars and the realtions between the races have tensed up in recent times.
